Hearing and Listening.

Both need ears — but they are different.

Hearing is the physical ability.

And listening is a skill — A skill to understand the meaning behind the words.

Listening is the most important part of an effective communication.

You go through every day engaging in conversations with friends, co-workers, customers, and your family members.

Do you listen actively?

Or you just keep checking your phone while someone else is talking to you.

You think you’re listening to other people — but you’re not!

Calvin Coolidge put it best:

It takes a great man to be a good listener.

‘Active Listening’ wants full attention.

If you don’t interrupt when someone else is talking — you’re a good listener.

If you maintain eye contact with the speaker — you’re a good listener.

If you let the speaker take his/her time and have patience — you’re a good listener.

If you don’t just listen with your ears, but also with your eyes — you’re a good listener.

If you don’t listen actively, others feel unappreciated.

If you don’t listen, your customers go elsewhere.

Listening can help you to improve your products and services.

Listening can help you build a close relationship with your friends, co-workers and customers.

Take the step today and show someone that you’re truly listening.
