Can an algorithm predict your favorite wine? This message is brought to you by Bright Cellars, the personalized wine subscription service founded by two MIT grads with a passion for wine.

I sent an email to a lot of people last week, and the first response was “these stories are great but the grammatical errors…” It did have an error. I forgot the word “is” in a sentence. Without a linking verb — what am I? Sometimes I just want to let people know that great ideas surround me but I have no respect whatsoever for grammar… Style is nothing without story.

Alex Mathers reminded me what Kafka said, “so long as you have food in your mouth, you have solved all questions for the time being.” Substance first.

We all put our pants on one leg at time.

And if we are eating together, we are eating together.

I’ve reached the point where I know, eating is the great equalizer.

If you’re fortunate enough to still be at the table, tell a good story to whomever you’re eating with.

Did you know: Alex Haley’s 1965 Playboy interview with Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most defining journalism pieces of the century? kevinwrytes reminded me….

Maybe these digital files will keep our ideas alive forever. But who knows how digital stories will age? Will they get lost in the noise? Will their be a terrorist attack upon our servers? Will stories live forever?

As Pawan Kumar pointed out last week, if Google were a person, she wouldn’t even be old enough to order wine…

I do like how Google takes care of families after death of employees… Maybe this should be a national law?

Remember that your time is gold. Reading Nicolas Cole will keep you focused. He asserts that you should invest in skills, not in rewards.

If you get to eat today, it’s a good day.

Kind Regards,

David Smooke, @AMI
