Let’s Clap!

Monkey toy — photo source

Woke up with this monkey on my mind,
On my mind, no — I wasn’t hungover,
Though there’s days I wish I could rewind…
That’s off topic, you see, I was mulling this over

A bit too much, but aren’t you disturbed
How Medium could determine this clapping
A good idea? I find myself perturbed,
And I know I’m not alone in why is this happening?!

Those little green hearts were totally my jam,
Now there’s no love, we’re feeding the monkey
Slap that shiny button to show my support — BAM!
Again…and again
’til I’m a Medium junkie!

Anyone want to join the circus with me?
We’ve got a cheeky monkey who claps freely,
No strings attached, as long as we stay in line,
More, more, more! We’re all feeling just fine

Smile for the camera, 50 claps will do,
Only 30? Smile wavers to a grin,
30 is good, right? Out of how many views?
That’s fine, that’s fine, but 20?! Where’s the gin?

All I’m asking is let me have a choice,
Let me decide which ways I can express
My pleasure reading here, my Medium voice
Matters, doesn’t it? I like to think yes

The monkey and I will be here, waiting,
Clap for us(!), clink some change in our jar
If you will, we won’t be too frustrated,
Or don’t — if you find this equally bizarre
