Pucker up

First day of work and she’s so nervous

mum wants to see what she’s wearing and is making a fuss

there’ll be so much paper work to do

so many new co-workers saying ‘pleased to meet you’

the night before she’d tossed and turned

wondering and wondering, again and again

she hopes she fits in, she hopes she copes well

mum prays this will bring her out of her shell

so mum makes sure to remind her on the first day

something that could possibly be an old wive’s tale

mum is certain that this could do the trick

a little confidence boost by wearing ‘old Hollywood’ red lipstick

and now it’s been a while and our dear girl is doing just fine

this is the first step in her career, from here she’ll climb, and climb and climb

and climb.
