Take The Time To Make Good Captions on Instagram.

If you go and see what people do with their posts on Instagram, you will see a pattern after a while, they post a pic and put in some sort of quote made by them or found on the web.

It’s cool to read quotes but how many do you think we want to see each time we enter IG?

Use the white space you have below your post to create a story, one which talks about the post itself and what was going through your mind.

You may think it’s not worth putting in more time into the post by writing a small note below but trust me, it looks good and makes the post stand out in a sea of quotes.

It doesn’t have to be a XXI century masterpiece or anything like that but rather a thought or a good paragraph talking about what was happening there.

A good example would be this one which encapsulates both a thought and some context into what was happening in the post.

The post itself would have made for great content for his account but after adding a small note below it instead of a quote it made the whole post better and more personal (which should be the goal when making a personal brand)

Yes, I know I used Chris Hemsworth as an example which could be a bit extreme for some since he is a big celebrity but if you go and see other famous celebrities accounts you could see that they put a quote and they are done, which like I said, doesn’t look bad but could be better.

Here you can see a example of a celebrity using a quote and not giving that much context to the post itself.

This post could have made for a great story if he would have something more interesting rather than “another 1,000 words”

I could be picky right now but if you go and compare both posts only by the caption I would guess you preferred the first one.

Add the caption and pic together and again you will choose the first one because it feels like he gives a fuck about what he’s posting.

I’m not trying to throw dirt on Virgil Abloh (God, no) but he could have given more context in order to make it more appealing to his audience.

Try putting some effort into your captions and see how it makes your posts stand out more. Leave a bit of yourself in each caption and people will notice and love it.

Much love to every single one of you!

I recently opened a new IG page where I give tips on writing itself and post articles! If you love reading, writing and using IG then we are a perfect match haha.

I respond to every message so if you have any question or want to talk with me, you can find me there!
