The Artist

When most people think of an artist, they think of a painter or sculptor, but the list is much longer. This is dedicated to my friend Brad Hill who is a tattoo artist at Golden Yeti Tattoo in Franklin, Tenn. You don’t just wake up one day and decide you are going to be a tattoo artist. brad had to be an apprentice for over two years before he ever did his first tattoo. He also has raw talent, determination and a passion for his work.
The word art is derived from
the Latin “ars”, which, although
literally defined means, “skill
method” or “technique”.
What is a tattoo?
A tattoo is made by inserting ink
into the dermis of the skin and
has been practiced for
centuries worldwide. Tattoos
are made with needles
attached to needle bars that
can puncture the skin at 50 to
3,000 times a minute.
So, the next time you think
about an artist, don’t just think
about a painter or sculptor,
remember my friend with
great talent, Brad Hill.
Listen to your art!
