What has a pig to do in a toilet? “The Comrade Napoleon is Always Right!” (detail) by Meg Konovska

This is piece No 17 of the “33” watercolour series by Meg Konovska (*khu-khum*, that would be… ME!).

The series consists of 33 paintings, 33 x 33 cm each. They are all created in the following manner:
• Randomly make 33 dots on the blank sheet, with eyes closed
Connect the dots in a complete contour, without intersecting lines
• The resulting silhouette is developed in a sketch which is completed in colour.

To top it off, each painting is accompanied by an explanation for the unsuspecting observer to consider.

I now give you

The Comrade Napoleon is Always Right! (available)

Painting 33x33 cm watercolour on 50% cotton acid free paper, 250 gsm. Overall size with framing: 44x44 cm. Mounted behind glass with wooden frame.

Here is depicted the Comrade Napoleon (the main pig in “The Animal Farm” by George Orwell) in one of many scenes which are NOT described in the book.

The gossip has it the depicted scene is taking place after a booze-up in which the Comrade Napoleon got drunk as a pig, he got sick and for this reason he went to vomit in the toilet where he flopped down on the floor since he was unable to stand onto his feet.

I can assure you these are all vile defamations. In reality the picture shows the Comrade Napoleon during an industrial espionage at Mister Pilkington’s estate.

The Comrade Napoleon is seated on the floor of the loo, enjoying the aroma coming out of the toilet bowl. He intends to introduce innovations of the kind in the Farm where this appliance is to be used as an air-freshener in the personal quarters of the Comrade Napoleon in the residence which once belonged to the people’s enemy Jones the Farmer.
