Somewhere over the rainbow…. “Transporter” by Meg Konovska

This is piece No 13 of the “33” watercolour series by Meg Konovska (*khu-khum*, that would be… ME!).

The series consists of 33 paintings, 33 x 33 cm each. They are all created in the following manner:
• Randomly make 33 dots on the blank sheet, with eyes closed
Connect the dots in a complete contour, without intersecting lines
• The resulting silhouette is developed in a sketch which is completed in colour.

To top it off, each painting is accompanied by an explanation for the unsuspecting observer to consider.

I now give you

Transporter (sold out)

Painting 33x33 cm watercolour on 50% cotton acid free paper, 250 gsm. Overall size with framing: 44x44 cm. Mounted behind glass with wooden frame.

This is a leprechaun — one of the kin who live under the rainbow, and if you catch them, they grant you a pot of gold. The picture shows such a leprechaun blissfully lying in his boat while transporting a bag of gold coins from one bank of the rainbow to the other.

His animal companion is provided with an umbrella. When opened it gives the rainbow its vibrant colours and causes its bending in an arch shape. Otherwise the rainbow flows abstractly as a river (depicted) and it lacks its multicolour tint.

The animal is looking up to the sky in assessment whether the ideal combination of rain and sun is to appear anytime soon, in order to open up the umbrella.

The leprechaun is blissfully breathing in the scent of the flower and he is completely calm. He has already estimated the time and he knows the moment for opening up the umbrella is to come right after the boat reaches the opposite rainbow bank.
