I feel that the platform writers all over the world use too little in order to engage with people they want to write for is Instagram.

Since it is used more to post pictures than for anything else, it is understandable why they prefer to go on other platforms like Twitter and Facebook but here me out, there are a lot of opportunities on Instagram when it comes to writing (in any shape or form)

Slide into the DM’s

Some people don’t know how powerful a single message can be if sent to the right person/brand.

How do you know who to message? You don’t, you have to play the numbers game, forget emails, write to them on Instagram talking about how you like what they are doing and how you would love t write for them!

Rejection will be normal since you are reaching out to them but out of 10 at least 2 will respond and 1 will be willing to let you create an article for them.

If you are new into writing for brands or people you can write for free for them or give them 1 free article to let them see how well you write and then talk about your rates.

How to find people that need writers?

The best way to find brands that are willing to let you write for them is by going to search on Instagram and looking for a hashtag of somethign that you have knowledge of, for example:

If you search for “Men’s Fashion” this will show up:

My Instagram :)

You have to go in one of those hashtags and start looking for brands that you want to write for and then start messaging them, it’s as simple as that!

You should at least see what the brand is about first and how you could contribute with your writing.

After that is done all you have to do is rinse and repeat.

A word of advice: Brands know when you are copying a message that you sent out to other brands before them, so don’t do it. Instead, write a message tailored specifically to them and try to make it as personal as possible!

Tell them how your writing could look amazing in their blog and show them some of your work!

You should be sending out at least 10 messages per day to brands that you are looking for to write for.

Don’t worry if they don’t respond at first, it’s a normal part of the process, but as you start getting better and better, they will start coming to you!

This is how I have been able to meet ton of amazing people recently and I am grateful for it!

I have to say that I didn’t think of this by myself! Gary Vaynerchuk was the one talking about how we aren’t using DM’s as much as we should and I just executed!

Let’s connect on Instagram while we are on it!

Much love to every single one of you!
