That One Person On the Internet Is Holding You Back
My hand lingered over the send button. Should I hit send?It was just a Facebook post sharing the book I’d spent months on. I thought back to the time that an acquaintance ranted about people who constantly promoted themselves. Finally I hit send. I hit refresh over and over again. I wasn’t waiting for the Likes to pile up. I was waiting for that one person to Like it. When that person finally liked it, I felt validated. I breathed in deeply. Finally I realized that more than 100 people liked my post, writing encouraging comments.

Writing is Therapy.
Like the act of stretching your muscles, the process is worth it. You may find yourself at times not anticipating the exercise, but you…know it is good for you. Keep the end satisfaction in mind to initiate the act of writing. Soon your mind will follow and you will enjoy the practice throughout the entire process. ¶ As much as I can, I write what I am thankful for and how much I have grown as an individual. This has been a wonderful practice first thing in the morning. ¶ My latest reflection is that I am thankful for hardships.

People are scared of niching down and targeting a small audience at first because they fear they are losing out on potential customers…. They fear that it wouldn’t be worthwhile if they didn’t try to capture as much of the market as possible. Investors want a giant return, they want to shoot for the moon. But if you look at any successful product, you’ll find that they started small and grew concentrically from that center. ¶ Facebook started with Harvard students and remained college only for a long time. Fuck you. Really, fuck you. My [single]mom is a prison teacher. She has relocated many times[often in the middle of nowhere with harsh…climates] to places where she has no friends/family/support just so she can continue supporting herself and making sure that I’m taken care of. She risks her life every day walking into a place where people regularly get stabbed just feet away from her. She is helping rehabilitate convicts that at one point will come back into society. She is doing work that makes a significant impact in the lives of people that really need it.
