Colors of Hudson Valley — pigments made from local invasive species

Test paintings using pigments extracted from local invasive species

I learned about some of the invasive species that are common in my area, and collected them in the garden at Farmscape Ecology Program in Ghent this spring and summer. The plants I tested so far are: Curly Dock, Red Clover, Garlic Mustard, Common Dandelion, and Wild Madder. I extracted pigments from them, and these are the test paintings using those colors. I am planning to launch a new line of greeting cards dedicated to the colors collected here in the Hudson Valley.
