On an iPad?

Translated from:

If you are thinking: “anyone with an iPad and hands can draw that”, perhaps your thoughts will change after finding out it was created by someone in their 80s!

Born in 1937, during a generation where digital pencils hadn’t taken over yet — David begins learning the art of iPad drawing in his late 70s.

With practice and time, his works on the iPad become more and more progressive.

Later stages…

And finally, these drawings eventually evolve into master artworks over time! So who is the person behind these iPad paintings?

David Hockney
David Hockney’s “Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy” (1971)
David Hockney’s “A Bigger Splash” (1967)
David Hockney’s “My Parents” (1977)

Although you may not know exactly who David Hockney is, you may have seen at least one of his popular pieces!

With his signature round glasses and appearance, the artist behind the iPad drawings are by David Hockney.

“Ill send you today’s dawn this afternoon.” — David Hockney

Despite having painted many different genres throughout his life, adapting to the art of digital iPad style is not easy for someone of their 80s. But Hockney has positively expressed that the iPad is a rather useful device that includes brushes, paint, and sketchbooks.

He would often message friends of painted sunrises in the morning, directly sent from his iPad! A true artist who doesn’t hesitate to try challenges of the newer generation!

This is the reason why ARTBLOC has selected David Hockney’s works to represent in their first project.

More stories of David Hockney will be released soon!
