The current trend in Hollywood is to reboot old classics and other successful films. One of the most popular shows, Fuller House, is now on its fourth season on Netflix. The moments of its release stirred up strong feelings of nostalgia in fans and members of the cast.

However, many were not impressed with the outcome. According to Variety, fans were significantly disappointed when news got out that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen did not sign up for the reboot. However, the review from the website said that the spinoff did not live up to the hype because it felt manufactured and not like the original. How can something feel like the original ten years later? But, I digress. This is not the first time that a reboot has not lived up to the hype that was built around it.

So why does Hollywood keep redoing shows that were very successful in the past?

I don’t know, but I do have a solid guess.

Hollywood works in a system of trends. Once something was successful once, Hollywood thinks that it can be done again and be just as successful as the first project. An example would be the The Karate Kid in 1984 and The Karate Kid in 2010. The original movie is constantly held as a classic, but there are crickets when there are discussion about Jaden Smith appearing as the lead.

How can we avoid this disappointing trend?

HIRE MORE SCREENWRITERS!!!!!

The end.

There are way too many creatives looking for an opportunity bring to tell new for their to be so many reboots and sequels.

Back to my previous point, HIRE MORE SCREENWRITERS!!!!
