7 Things I Learned Writing Online as An Autistic
#4 Change your environment based on your sensory needs
My one-year anniversary of writing on the internet was just a few months ago. During this year, I learned a lot about writing online, and about myself. Here are 7 things I learned over the past year about writing on the internet.
1. Motivation comes and goes
We all start writing extremely motivated and with a ton of ideas. Truth be told, that doesn’t last forever and the secret to remaining as consistent as possible is to just keep writing at your own pace.
It’s okay if you don’t have the time nor the energy to write every day, or even every week, just do what is possible for you. Obviously, this is coming from someone who works a 9–5 job and writes on the internet on the side.
2. Take notes
This is something I constantly need to remind myself of. My working memory is not great. So, if I have an idea for an article, I need to write that idea and how I plan to develop it. Otherwise, I won’t remember it.
You can use notebooks to write down ideas. Personally, I like to use the notes app on my phone and Notion, which I use on my phone and on my computer.
