VD Polished from Gaxs Watches
Sleek, minimal, multipurpose, and a great value. These are all traits I look for in a watch and I believe that a lot of others do as well. I have a lot of watches that have a purpose. I wear a few when I am dressed in a suit, some when I am dressing casual, others when I am wearing a specific color. To find a watch that is multipurpose enough that you can wear it for almost all occasions is hard. There is a company that makes watches that fit all of these categories, Gaxs Watches.
Gaxs Watches has been around since 2012, with the sole goal of making high-quality watches at a decent price, and they nail that. Their entire product line has a very dark, minimalist feel. Every watch they make has a black face, most with a black bezel, and some even with black hands. So, if you like watches that are flashy then they are probably not for you. If you like sleek, minimal, and stylish then you’ll have no problem finding a watch that suits your style.
The watch that was sent to me for review was the VD Polished. The VD comes in a polished and a brushed version, so if shiny isn’t your thing, they have an alternative for you. I personally like the polished against the dark feel of the watch, it makes the dark stand out a bit more against the contrasting bezel. The one downside of the polished is that it shows smudges and fingerprints pretty damn well. If you have an obsession with keeping things spotless, get the brushed, but if you want something slightly more flashy, go with the polished. The band is a soft, black leather, that has a bit of shine to it. When first putting it on, it feels a bit stiff. After a few days of wear, it softened up nicely. The buckle has a nice bit of flair, there is a Gaxs logo on it, which is off center and looks sharp. When it comes to most polished items, the buckle does scratch pretty easily, and I managed to have mine scratched within days of first using it. The VD does have something none of their other watches have, a second hand located as a separate dial, which makes it look like a chronograph at first. This bit of flair looks nice and is unique enough to catch the average watch connoisseurs eye.
Over the last month of using the Gaxs VD Polished I can say that it is a watch for nearly all occasions. You can use it for pretty much anything, excluding exercising, mainly because of the leather band. The VD is comfortable and has wore nicely. I foresee it to continue to wear just as nicely for even longer use. Gaxs makes some pretty great watches, nothing flashy, but very sleek. If you like sleek and minimal, or just have a sweet spot for all black products then Gaxs is a great choice and a great value.
