A.I. Abilities

So far, I have researched and talked about current artificial intelligence in business being “weak artificial intelligence” or mostly being used for automation and solving simple tasks. Now i wish to talk about artificial intelligence that is more capable and more advanced. This kind of artificial intelligence will drive the future advancement and use of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

Artificial intelligence has already infiltrated many businesses through automation but soon it will decrease the amount of work accounting professionals must do by increasing its workload and what accounting tasks it can do. As stated by Bernard Marr, “Machines can vet new suppliers by checking their credit scores or tax information and set them up in the system without human involvement and even query portals to get all the necessary information” (2018). In other words, new clients can be checked and processed without the need of a human to assist. This shows some of the abilities artificial intelligence has gained that can greatly reduce the amount of time and effort an accounting employee must put out to finish a task like this. I think this is a good step towards effective implementation of artificial intelligence within the workplace.

Another example of artificial intelligence gaining new responsibilities is told by the writer, “Reviewing and approving expenses to ensure they are compliant with your organization’s policies is time-consuming for your accounting team. Machines can read receipts, audit expenses and alert humans when a possible infraction has occurred” (2018). In other words, this kind of artificial intelligence can do more than simple automated work. It can complete some of the less simple tasks such as doing audit expenses and detecting the occurrence of an infraction. Artificial intelligence seems to be advancing at a good rate and will probably be able complete more complex tasks without any human assistance.
