I produced the above in about one hour on a Saturday morning, a time that I treasure. Other activities that previously filled this slot were meditation and rhythm guitar.

I did the one hour meditation for over a year using the headspace app and felt an increase in clarity, focus and performance in all areas of life.

The rhythm guitar lasted less than a year, partly due to the disturbance it caused to the rest of the household. I found the focus on the strumming patterns similar to focus on the breath in meditation and noticed a feeling of well being from this activity.

Now I am addicted to generating content on Medium using Chat GPT to generate articles about widely accepted truths. My reward for editing the content in line with Chat GPT’s formatting instructions are the dopamine hits that I get when you clap, comment or follow me.

The most tiresome part is adding the images that I generate using Midjourney (I pay for a full Chat GPT and Midjourney license). The full licenses allow me access to the latest, most creative version of Chat GPT and allow me to use the Midjourney images in my blog without reference. More importantly, by paying, I get unlimited access to both platforms.

These AI platform costs and my medium subscription are the only direct financial outgoings associated with my addiction, but by far the biggest price is the time that I sacrifice in lieu of other more satisfying and energising opportunities.
