Spoiled in Italy and Swiss Scenery Shrouded in Mystery

We finished our petsit at Lake Como, Italy, when our friends returned from their trip at 2:30 in the afternoon last Saturday. It was a short crossover since our train left at 4:30 that same day. Olive was super cute when we left. She was very confused and didn’t know whether to stay or come with us. As it was, she followed us to the elevator and tried to get in it with us before her owner grabbed her and carried her back to their apartment.
We were sad to be leaving her, but we were also excited about the next leg of our adventure. We were heading to Reggio Emelia to visit a friend of mine from Canada. She has lived in Italy for 15 years now, and the last time we saw her was back in 2015 when both Chris and I saw her for just 4 days. This time, it was to be a short two-night stay before we headed up to Switzerland for a week.
Reggio Emelia is about 150 km southeast of Milan—an hour and a half by train. The surrounding area is the birthplace of parmesan cheese and, like all Italian cities, is a culinary stronghold. We knew that we would be enjoying some good food while…
