Where culture goes, commerce grows is a core belief of Artists Create Markets. Here is a great example of that process in action: while the traditional High Street is dying, shops attached to museums and galleries are thriving.

Why? Perhaps because art and consumerism are much more closely linked than we usually like to admit. Art and culture inspires us to be creative. When we shop, we are directing some of that creativity ideas, perhaps to how we look, or to our home. Inspiration and expression are as essential to creativity i the mall as they are to art in the studio.

One conclusion to draw is that bringing more culture, art galleries, studios and workshops onto the high street will in turn stimulate retail and so revive and transform the high street.
