Tokyo DisneySea aka The Happiest Day in Japan: Photo-Journal Edition

DisneySea recreates some of the world’s most beautiful seaside locations, including a network of Venetian canals and the Arabian Coast. Below are 15 of my favorite memories from this magical day.

Key Takeaway #1: Japan takes themes very seriously. All 7 lands are nautical exploration themed, and all are spectacularly executed.

Left: Green alien mochi filled with custard, chocolate, and strawberry cream (found at Food cart in front of the S.S. Columbia or Mama Biscotti’s Bakery in the Mediterranean Harbor); Middle: Halloween special chicken & vegetable bun (at Nautilus Galley); Right: Smoked turkey leg (at Chuck Wagon shop inside Westernland)

Key Takeaway #2: DisneySea takes counter-service food options seriously. Hands down the best snacks I’ve ever had in a Disney theme park.

Right: Steamed chicken cream bun (at Sultan’s Oasis)

Key Takeaway #3: The rides are top-notch. They have spins on the classics such as the Indiana Jones Adventure and Toy Story Mania. I personally loved Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage in the Arabian Coast (themed after Aladdin).

Right: Halloween special ukiwaman bun, chicken teriyaki bun (at Seaside Snack)

Key Takeaway #4: You can likely count on there being a queue for most everything: buying tickets, buying snacks, rides, etc. So bring a friend, one that you don’t mind sharing food with and waiting in lines with.

Left: Smoked chicken leg (at Lost River Cookhouse); Middle: Tiramisu ice cream sandwich (snack carts all around the park)
