Obsequious
A Poem
Attentive to the worst
of the broken branches
keeping tapered limbs
out of the fire
the patterns of grazing
various heights of grass
the troubles with love
and understanding
slaving away to the tune
of the skin
beyond the crusted nose
and sun-whipped eyes
the body can collapse
even while being summoned
and even broken
even disobedient
the crossing wires of grief
listen to everyone
