Metaverse for Noobs

Imagine a world different from your normal reality, where everything is futuristic — a world for your virtual identity. You can be whatever you want, whenever you want. You could transform yourself into a custom character or avatar, give it NFT wearables, participate in events, take work meetings in VR and hang out with your friends. A place where the only limitation is your imagination.
If we look back in time, communication has evolved drastically. It took many small steps from mails, telegraphs and fax to voice calls and video calls where one could see the other person in real-time who is thousands of miles away.
At present, we have reached a point where technology does not limit us to just communication. Metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds where people can experience everything in VR; a futuristic expansion of the real world.

How does it work?
The metaverse is a simulated digital environment that is constantly evolving. It uses Augmented reality (AU) which enables an interactive experience of a real-world environment along with virtual reality (VR), where a person can explore a simulated environment in 360 degrees. It also has features that allow users to interact with NFTs and other digital additions, making it a one-of-a-kind experience that can’t really be described unless you experience it yourself.

So how has it become the new talk of the town? Well, the metaverse provides you with several possibilities. We can already host gatherings, meetings, play games, work and do basically anything you would in the real world. Presently, the primary use of Metaverse is for gaming.
Fortnite, one of the most popular metaverses is worth over $30 billion dollars (at time of writing), and most of the metaverses coming out now are inspired by the 2017 game.
Decentraland — The first-ever virtual world owned by its users
One of the first metaverses in the crypto space is Decentraland — a 3D virtual world where users can earn crypto, play multiple games, and create, sell and trade NFT wearables and more. It also has a ton of casinos where players have a chance to earn a bunch of cryptocurrencies.
Users can even buy the in-game currency MANA, which enables them to buy and sell NFT items within the game. They can also buy virtual plots of land using this currency. That’s literally virtual real estate!

Interacting with a person on a phone or laptop will soon be a thing of the past. Imagine hanging out with your friends in your virtual home, playing billiards or just hanging out as you would in the real world. The only difference is, everyone will be in the comfort of their homes and still enjoy the company of other. The metaverse might just be the solution to make that procrastinated Goa trip a reality!
