Listening to cassette is adding some sense of satisfaction and a tint of vintage. This has become trendy in Hong Kong. I am not sure about other countries, guess it is a world trend. There are lots of reasons, beside the fact that it is cheaper than listening to vinyl.

This way of listening to music gives you the time to focus on one thing. The difficulty and complexity of putting in a tape, setting up the player, putting in the batteries….and if the tape gets stuck, you have to whirl it up using a pen.

There are some buttons you have to press, for rewinding, for playing, for tuning the volume, for stopping, and if the A side songs have all been played, you have to open the cover, and insert the tape again by the B side.

It seems hard to focus on one thing nowadays, and also very hard to find a button to press on. The experience is delightful, and the sound of pressing the button is tasty, like a bite of biscuit.

Usually we are swiping the phone and it is so easy to get access to anything, you can skip to other songs in less than a second by a simple tap. It is hard to let you stay on one song, and finish listening the whole song.

Using cassette as a way to enjoy the music you love makes you focused, because you cannot do anything with the cassette player other than listening it. It is a good way to stabilise your thoughts through daily information bombardment, relax, and stay away from noise.

This is another simple way to balance your emotion and body, train you to be calmer and enhance your attention span in doing a thing. This is what people living in the modern society need. Find your own serene place.
