Another week, another article for you lovely people out there! We have been talking about our campaigns and contests: if you have missed those, have a look at them here.

Now the time has come: let’s focus more on your artworks 🎨 More specifically on the stories behind your paintings. At Artupia we believe Art is not only about artworks but it’s also about stories, about what people feel and perceive by looking at a canvas.

For example, did you know a painting with a great description has a lot more chances to be featured on our website and, consequentially, be seen by people?! You may ask yourself why, and the reason is simple: a painting with a great story is able to create a deep connection with whoever looks at it. Once users recognise themselves in a painting, they might end up buying it.💚

Plus, on our website we have our own selection of featured paintings which we call “Artworks with a great story”. Among thousands of paintings we have stored on our Platform, every two weeks we choose 6 of them with an amazing story and meaning behind it. They end up in our Discover page so they will have bigger chances to be noticed by our visitors and buyers. 👩‍💻💰

So, how do you write a great story for your painting? You can start by answering these questions:

  • Why did you decide to paint that specific subject? Why did you choose those colours? — For example: “I decided to paint this subject after I saw an old abandoned house where a thriving vegetation had claimed back its spaces.
  • What were you trying to represent? Is this painting a representation of a feeling? Or, perhaps, a personal experience? — For example: “It represents a kind of union and mix between the old world and the new one.
  • What did inspire you when realising this painting? An artist? A movement? An event? — For example: “I was inspired by Renoir’s style with the addition of something more modern, contemporary and, at the same time, weird.
  • What message you want to communicate to the audience? — Ad esempio: “My painting conveys the idea that after the Coronavirus pandemic it’s essential to stop for a moment and then start over again in a brand new direction.

By combining all the answers to these questions you are going to have lots of things to say. 😉

Feel free to talk about your feelings openly and explain your creative process. Plus, with our new search, people might look for that specific subject, mood or emotion and they end up looking at your artwork. A great story and description will definitely catch their eyes.

I bet you surely found some good reasons to write great and captivating stories for your paintings. So start giving your canvas the voice you own!
