Kevin is Delivery Manager for the Advanced Digital Engineering (UK) Software team at @Arup.

Over the coming days we will publish a series of articles demonstrating our digital capabilities at Arup.

Arup brings together traditional engineering and design strengths with advanced digital expertise in data, models, analytics, and user–centred design.

You can read more about some of our work and culture over at Arup Digital News and our sister publication The City Modelling Lab, but for now we wanted to give a short description of the different capabilities that may be relevant in supporting you during this current time.

Arup’s Digital Capability includes a resource pool of data scientists, software engineers (including Cloud/DevOps specialists), geospatial experts, digital product/project managers, designers (service/interaction/graphic design) and researchers.

This list isn’t any way exhaustive of Arup’s digital capability, but it highlights digital capabilities that complement our work across all dimensions of the built environment.

If any of the capabilities below sound of use, please get in touch via ADESoftware@arup.com

Our Capabilities

Data Strategy and Information Management

Data Strategy advice on capturing, storing, and processing data as well as data privacy. Informing data management strategies to meet regulations and inform efficient operations.

Digital project & product management

Integrating knowledge of different disciplines to identify value outcomes (quickly). Managing and keeping development on track to deliver the priority outcomes. Delivering proof-of-concepts, alpha and beta builds, and live projects.

User Research and User Interviews

User research to get a deep understanding of user needs using quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Delivered remotely through online workshops, interviews and surveys to gather insights.

User Experience (UX)

Design of services that are easy to use and solve a whole problem for users. Prototypes are delivered through online platforms for quick iteration.

User Interface (UI)

Design of responsive applications for the web that are visually appealing and provide a consistent experience for end users.

Data Visualisation

Data visualisation underpinned by engineering ideas and mathematical algorithms. 3D, 2D, cartographic and graphical data visualisation delivered via the web.

Software Engineering

Leveraging web technologies to create bespoke tools rapidly when off-the-shelf solutions don’t provide enough flexibility.

Analytics

Use of models, simple statistics, regression, heuristics, advanced machine learning (ML) algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) to give insight into problems.

Data Engineering

Designing data pipelines to reliably and repeatedly take raw, unstructured data from multiple sources and produce fit for purpose data for different applications.

Geospatial

Specialists in the utilisation of geospatial skills for automation and clean-up of spatial data, analysis and geographic data visualisation.

Cloud

Scalable applications with high uptime. Utilising Cloud computing to enable data processing, analytics and visualisations.
