Me, as a youth still imagines the time of live theater and plays which my grandparents used to tell me the stories of. In Ajmer, there is “Jawahar Rang manch” which was opened in the late 90s for the entertainment of Ajmerites. In the role of theatre productions, there’s a name which is evenly known all across the city — Mr Umesh Chaurasia, who born and bought up in Ajmer.

From the 8th standard itself, Chaurasia sir started to flow his ink in a creative manner of words on paper. Later, he became a commerce graduate and did post graduation in Hindi literature. By 2017, he also got a degree in journalism. He wrote many plays to be presented both on and off the stage as nukkad natak. Some of his major works include ‘Mai toh bhul gayo’, which was his very first book and was scripted for role play. The role play highlighted the importance of education as well as theaters among the audience.

“Theatre isn’t only a medium of communication, but also a strong tool to evolve the society”

:- Quotes, our bigwig (literature expert) Umesh Chaurasia from Ajmer chapter.

Upon a recent meeting with him, he spoke to me about some of the major issues like deviation of budding artists from the right path, lack of dedication, improper utilization of opportunities, aimlessness in youth and ideal citizenship of oneself towards our country.

With time, the taste changed with technology. Nowadays, live theaters have been replaced by recorded movies. But concerns still remains the same. Hope to outlast.
