ABOUT

As Equals Africa was founded in 2018 by the Nigerian Feminists Angel Nduka-Nwosu and Shalom Esene. We are a primarily African Feminist community of writers, photographers, and artists telling stories about African women through various media.

Since our inception, we have hosted women-only safe space events, coordinated protests such as #SayHerNameNigeria, and started conversations on social media regarding feminism and our place in it as African women. Currently, we have an online group for discussing feminist thought and sharing opportunities which is a safe space open only to women of African descent.

We recently launched our Medium publication, which you are reading to allow for a wider range of essays, stories, and voices.
