Dr. Imani Perry’s return to Birmingham

As Goes The South film update

This week we will wrap up filming of As Goes The South with a very special scene featuring award-winning scholar, prolific author, and respected daughter of Birmingham’s, Dr. Imani Perry.

Dr. Perry’s voice and perspective on the South are well reflected in her writings, especially her seminal book, South to America. Indeed, Dr. Perry’s writings were a major source of inspiration for the narrative framing of our film.

Dr. Perry will be in Birmingham for the opening of Joe Minter’s art exhibit on Thursday, October 3. Mr. Minter’s art, comprised largely of “found objects” has received the attention from some of the nation’s most prominent art critics.

We can’t wait to welcome B+ and Eric back to Birmingham for the final few days of shooting before we move into full scale post production work for the film.
