Bombs burst in the air and fires burnt all around as the wagon train stole out of Richmond Virginia in May 1865.

They traveled by night across Virginia, then North and South Carolina, and then into Georgia, avoiding the Union forces all the way. What was their cargo? Twas the Confederate Treasury.

The wagon train snuck on into Florida, down the Alligator Road to the Yulee Cotton Wood Plantation in Archer. There they learned the war was over. The cause was lost. What became of the gold you ask? Some say it never was. NOT SO. Others say it was divided up, but most say it was buried. But where? It has never been found!

Now there is a group of expert high tech treasure hunters beginning to scan Cotton Wood with deep, ground-penetrating searching equipment. First they want to find where the barn was. That’s not where I would look! Ask me sometime!
