Masters of Horror episode review — 2.13 — Dream Cruise

Original air date: February 2, 2007
Director: Norio Tsuruta
Writers: Naoya Takayama and Norio Tsuruta (short story by Koji Suzuki)

Rating: 6/10

At about an hour and a half, this episode is basically a movie. And while it’s not fantastic, it’s better than most of the season, and it feels somewhat justified in its length.

The episode is sort of this charming little love story that eventually turns horror.

It’s relatively atmospheric and well done even if it’s only mildly entertaining. I never quite got into the story, though this episode was definitely trying, unlike many of the episodes from this season.

So it’s alright — maybe even pretty good. Unremarkable, perhaps, but one of the best episodes of a bad season.
