Monk episode review — 6.8 — Mr. Monk and the Wrong Man

Original air date: September 7, 2007
Director: Anton Cropper
Writer: Salvatore Savo

Rating: 6/10

Someone Monk put away for murder is being released, having been cleared by new DNA evidence. Monk feels awful, and even considers retiring. He tries to make it up to the man, but is a bit horrified to find that he’s been tattooed on the man’s arm.

Monk decides to help the man find his ex-wife, and he does, interrupting her new wedding. However, then the doubt starts kicking in, as Monk believes the man truly is guilty, and may have just had a partner.

This episode has its moments, but the whole “interrupting a wedding” thing is so cliched. It is kind of funny how it happens twice, though. The investigation leaves a lot to be desired, as Monk, Stottlemeyer, and Disher don’t find all that much to make the story more interesting. There is a mildly funny runner, though, that involves Disher gloating that he wasn’t the one who screwed up for once. It’s not bad.
