Monk episode review — 7.4 — Mr. Monk Takes a Punch

Original air date: August 8, 2008
Director: Barnet Kellman
Writer: Salvatore Savo

Rating: 6/10

This episode is a whole lot of okay. There are a handful of laughs, of course, but this episode is defintiely below average for the series.

Monk is struggling for the police associate physical, but this changes when he agrees to work with a local boxer who’s trying to solve his attempted assassination.

In exchange, Monk ends up at his side in the ring during his championship fight, and these scenes aren’t nearly as funny as you’d expect.

But there’s still some good stuff, like when Monk insists he needs to throw as many rights as lefts, and when he tries to tie his shoes during the fight.

This episode is nothing special, but it’s fairly amusing.
