Movie Review: 13 Ghosts (1960)
I love me some William Castle gimmicks, and of the movies I’ve seen from him, this appears to be the least reliant on them. There is Illusion-O, though, which will allow you to see ghosts if you want to, or not see them if you don’t want to.
That’s pretty fun, I guess.
It’s an okay story, with some people searching through a haunted house for their inherited fortune, and dealing with the titular 13 ghosts. It’s exactly what you want out of a cheesy haunted house movie, really. And yes, this movie is cheesy, even aside from the gimmicks.
But it’s occasionally quite fun. Unfortunately, it’s not as fun as I was hoping for, and it had long spells in which it’s just dry. If we had more goofy little special effect setpieces, I’d probably have liked it more.
