Movie Review: A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

This is a great movie. It’s moody, it’s tense, it’s beautifully shot, and it packs an emotional punch. This is just what I want out of a Korean horror movie. It’s not trying just to shock you. It’s trying to move you.

While at the same time, providing more than its share of shocks.

I love the direction by Kim Jee-woon. The film is so mannered and slow in the first half, but it really works to build and build the tension throughout the movie. So much of this is accomplished through great cinematography. And I even liked the score a lot.

Rating: 8/10
