Movie Review: Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)

To be honest, I’m not that familiar with Abbot and Costello. Sure, I’ve seen the whole “Who’s on first” routine, but other than that, I’ve only seen two of their Universal Monster movies.

And to be perfectly honest, this movie is very funny. There’s a lot of great wordplay, and Costello provides some great physical humor.

This movie treats its monsters seriously, making it not really a parody. Lon Chaney as Lawrence Talbot/The Wolf Man and Bela Lugosi as Dracula play it as serious as ever. Instead of making fun of the monsters, the monsters essentially just make fun of Abbott and Costello.

I’m not doing it justice in my description, of course, but if you’re curious about this movie, just know that it is quite funny, and definitely worth your time.

Rating: 7/10
