Movie Review: Amazon Women on the Moon (1987)

--

This is a comedy anthology that’s supposed to…imitate one’s experience watching late night cable television? I guess? It’s a really weak concept to hang an anthology on, and it’s basically just a sketch comedy movie.

And it has its highs, and it has its lows. The only real segment I found to be inspired was the one where a guy is watching a Siskel and Ebert-type show where the film critics started reviewing him negatively.

And I guess the bit with the kid trying to buy condoms was kind of funny. And Ed Begley Jr. as the son of the Invisible Man was also pretty good.

But otherwise, the movie’s nothing special. The ’50s-inspired movie the entire film is centred around, Amazon Women on the Moon, is shockingly devoid of humour, and honestly I don’t know what the point of it all was.

Rating: 4/10
