Movie Review: Avalanche (1978)

Disaster movies with loaded casts were all the rage back in the 1970s. This is Roger Corman’s expectedly cheap version of that.

The movie takes forever to get going, as it tries to build character. The problem is that Rock Hudson and Mia Farrow are both awful and have no chemistry whatsoever. Robert Forster is much more watchable, but even he doesn’t have chemistry with Farrow.

Even though it takes forever to get going, once the avalanche actually hits, very little is actually exciting. It’s pretty clear that this movie could have benefited from having a much bigger budget. With that, the avalanche probably would have happened earlier, and there would have been some interesting stuff going on.
