Movie Review: Backcountry (2015)

I was really looking for this movie to do two things. I’m looking for horrific bear attack scenes and likable characters I can get behind.

The movie checks both of those boxes. In spades.

Still, I didn’t find the movie remarkable. I think I just wasn’t really into the story all that much, and found the shaky camerawork irritating. I understand it’s a practical choice and not a stylistic one, since they really are filming out there in the woods. That doesn’t make me enjoy it any more.

The movie is certainly effective, though, so I have to give it props for that.
