Movie Review: Bad Ben: The Mandela Effect (2018)

I am really enjoying this series. The second movie was very bad, and it definitely was lacking in Nigel’s presence. The thing is Nigel Bach is just naturally funny, almost unintentionally funny.

It’s just his line delivery is so strange, and his thick New Jersey accent makes things that probably aren’t meant to be that funny, sound really, really funny.

In this movie, he spends a lot of time swearing at some doll.

This movie involves a time loop, and it’s once again a one-man drama, just like the original Bad Ben movie. Even if you don’t enjoy this movie, you have to admire that Nigel was able to pull off something like that all on his own. Does it feel its budget? Of course. Is it repetitive? Yes, by its very nature. It involves a time loop, so Nigel shows up at his newly purchased house, running into problems each time, and each time having an increased feeling of deja vu.

And it all culminates in a very good joke at the end.

So it’s not like the funniest movie ever, and it’s not all that effective in its scares (we’re increasingly moving in the direction of comedy with this series, it seems). But it’s enjoyable all the same.

Rating: 6/10
