Movie Review: Black Caesar (1973)

I don’t think this movie is some classic, but it’s pretty effective, and definitely entertaining. Larry Cohen’s such a great independent filmmaker, and his blaxploitation take on the Edward G. Robinson classic Little Caesar is definitely worth watching.

I think my favorite aspect of this movie has to be the soundtrack by James Brown. He’s one of my favorite musicians of all time, and this is one hell of a soundtrack.

That having been said, as Tommy Gibbs, Fred Williamson, is nearly as compelling.

He’s far from sympathetic at times, but we always understand his character, and Williamson is such a talented and cool performer.

Rating: 6/10
