Movie Review: Captain Kronos — Vampire Hunter (1974)
Combining horror with swashbuckling action seems like it could be a really interesting idea. Unfortunately, however, the movie has a lot of dry moments, both in the first and second half.
There is some good stuff, of course. Seeing someone who’s been bit by a vampire begging to be killed is always effective, and I’m never going to complain about the casting of Caroline Munro.
The movie has some neat cinematography, and I love the cool and collected performance from German actor Horst Janson in the titular role.
The movie is worth your time, but it’s still rather unspectacular. I can see why this has a bit of a cult following, but I can also see why it didn’t do so well when it was released.
