Movie Review: Creepozoids (1987)

It’s nice to see David DeCoteau directing something that actually resembles a film. I’ve seen some absolute garbage that he’s done, and at least this one looks like a movie.

And it’s got Linnea Quigley, also, which is definitely a plus. She elevates just about anything she’s in — if not with her performance, than with her nudity.

The movie is definitely an Alien ripoff, right down to someone flipping out and dying while at the dinner table. The makeup effects are really neat, though a little campy.

The monsters are less well done. It’s just a guy in a suit, and obviously so was the xenomorph in the original Alien, but you can look to that movie as a good example of how fine direction can make you forget about that.

This movie definitely had a low budget, though it looks better than most DeCoteau movies. It’s unfortunate, too, because I’d like to see more of the post-apocalyptic outside, but we’re really just stuck in a few rooms with our main characters. It gets a bit repetitive.
