I had pretty high hopes for this movie, based on the premise. A person taking revenge on a mad scientist who made him kill his parent sounds great. Throw zombies in the mix, a long stint at a mental institute, and it definitely seems like a winner.
But this is a good example of where mediocre filmmaking can truly botch what could be great B-movie fun.
Despite the premise, the movie just has so little personality. It’s quite dull, honestly. This could have been Re-Animator. Hell, it came out before Re-Animator, and maybe that’s the problem. It probably would have been a better as a ripoff.
