Movie Review: Dinosaur Island (1994)

--

This movie starts out promising enough: decent enough dinosaur effects, lots of female nudity. It’s not until we’re introduced to our military protagonists that the movie begins to feel as cheap as it is. The acting is just atrocious, and the score sounds like something made by Kevin MacLeod (it’s by Chuck Cirino, who scored such classics as Sorority House Massacre II, Alienator, and Chopping Mall). And once you see the dinosaurs in the daytime, it’s just awful.

This is a Fred Olen Ray/Jim Winorski joint, so you know what you’re getting into. Some low budget charm, lots of boobs and gore, and very few takes.

Ross Hagen plays Army Captain Jason Briggs, and is it just me, or does he sound a lot like George Clooney, even if he doesn’t have near the talent, charisma, or good looks?

Anyway he and his men end up on an island run by a tribe of attractive women warriors, with one played by scream queen Michelle Bauer.
