Movie Review: Foxy Brown (1974)

Foxy Brown was incredibly entertaining. It’s great to see that even as he had a few cult classics under his belt, director Jack Hill hadn’t lost his exploitation touch. This movie is far more exploitation-y than I was expecting, and it’s all the better for it.

Pam Grier is fully committed to this goofy little movie, and she makes it all work. The humor, the seriousness, it somehow all works, even while the movie delves full-on into the sleazy side of things.

And Foxy is such a fun archetypal type of character. I am sure there are a lot of movies like this out there, but I haven’t seen many of them, so this movie felt really unique to me.
