Movie Review: Future Hunters (1988)

--

My expectations weren’t high for this Philipino post-apocalyptic sci-fi action movie — after all, it doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page. However, the first scene completely had me. This movie has some excellent schlocky action. It’s not believable, but the hand to hand combat is pretty well choreographed, and it’s got more guns than you can imagine.

The movie stars a pre-Terminator 2 Robert Patrick, in his first film role. It also stars Bruce Le, though he’s credited as Bruce Li.

I think this is my first real Bruceploitation film, unless you count Bruce Le’s brief and hilarious appearance in the film Pieces.

For those that don’t know, after Bruce Lee achieved worldwife fame, following his death, low budget filmmakers sought out their own knockoffs, using similar names. It’s a fascinating and hilarious subgenre today because most exploitation-type movies just rip off genres or specific movies, not specific on-screen personalities.
