Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
It always surprises me that some people consider this to be the best or one of the best movies of the series, because for me, it is definitely the low point. It’s just so awkward and uncomfortable, and the few flourishes of excitement aren’t nearly as exciting as they could be.
That dragon scene, for instance. You’d think a full on dragon chase would be awesome, but it just seems pointless.
Though this movie does do some things right. Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort would certainly go on to be a series bright spot, and we have this movie to thank for that.
Even despite that, however, the movie seems to indulge in far too many avenues that don’t advance the plot in any way. It’s the same problem as the previous movies, but it’s amplified because we’ve had three movies to get to know these characters. We want to see them be involved in some way.
