Movie Review: Hatchet II (2010)

Hatchet II is basically the same movie as the first one, but with Danielle Harris as the final girl here.

It has the same kind of tone, the same over-the-top gore.

The same lame attempt at comedy.

At least if there’s one thing this movie got right it was getting Tony Todd a bigger role. He was in the first one basically as just a cameo, like Robert Englund and John Carl Buechler. Here, he plays a character. I can’t really say he’s any good, but he’s certainly entertaining to watch.

While I didn’t love the first one, I did find it okay. This one misses the mark a bit more, chiefly because of its poor pacing. Not much happens in the first half of this movie and while that was true of the last one, at least we had some characters to sort of care about. Here, not so much, despite Danielle Harris’s efforts.

Rating: 4/10
