Movie Review: House II: The Second Story (1987)

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I mean, not really — the first House movie was basically just okay. But this is so much worse. It’s far goofier and more overtly comedic, and with a much less talented cast.

They couldn’t even get Norm, so they got Cliff. That’s a downgrade.

But really this movie just isn’t very enjoyable. It starts out like it might be a somewhat grounded haunted house horror movie following Jesse (Arye Gross) and his girlfriend Kate (Lar Park Lincoln) as a young couple moving into an old home.

It quickly gets more ridiculous, as we’ve got crystal skulls, and dead great grandfathers come back to life. The makeup is actually decent, and honestly, Royal Dano as the resurrected grandfather is the most entertaining part about the movie. But that’s not saying all that much.

Rating: 2/10
