Movie Review: Housewives from Another World (2010)
So this is what director Fred Olen Ray’s been up to, I see. Well then.
This is probably the most shame I’ve felt watching a movie since I subscribed to Full Moon’s streaming service. It’s very clearly a hardcore porn movie, but a re-edit that takes out all the hardcore shots. But it’s pretty clear that everyone’s actually having sex.
The movie opens with a sex scene that’s honestly just way too long. And then not long after that, we get a solo shower scene that’s — you guessed it — way too long.
Plot-wise, Karen (Heather Vandeven), the only one who’s actually a housewife, finds part of a meteor and makes a necklace out of it, which causes her to have an incurable sex drive.
She also brings the other two women in her life in on this little trick — Carla (Christine Nguyen) and Rita (Rebecca Love).
I’m honestly at a bit of a loss for words with this movie. It genuinely feels like it both has way too much plot, and not enough. They really don’t do a whole lot with the meteor thing, but at the same time, there’s way too much with Carla at her place of work. So I don’t really know.
The sex scenes are what you’d expect. The straight sex scenes were kind of weak and went on too long with too little variety, whereas the scenes with Rebecca Love and Heather Vandeven, and Love and Christine Nguyen, were pretty good.
